1. Korean Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago Kim Young-kil and Foreign Minister of Trinidad and Tobago 
Knowlson W. Gift signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the 
Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago for the Promotion and Protection of Investments in Port-
of-Spain on November 5, 2002.

 
2. The context of the Agreement includes national treatment and most-favored-nation treatment for mutual 
investors and limits on the expropriation of investment and compensation.

 
3. The conclusion of this Agreement has provided a legal foundation for mutual encouragement and 
protection of private investment between the ROK and Trinidad and Tobago.  It is expected to further 
promote bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries, and particularly solidify protection of 
Korean companies investing or operating in Trinidad and Tobago.
